I have a dirty little secret that I feel compelled to share with you all.
I have a soft spot for romantic comedies (films). I have an especially soft spot for Hugh Grant. I love Hugh Grant. I also adore Drew Barrymore, and will watch any romantic comedy she makes. The RLA and I just watched "Words and Music" and we both loved it.
Does that make us shallow?

Everyone needs a little fluff in their live. Mine for a while were those craptastic Harlequin books which I could knock out in less than 2 hours. (Haven't read one in years and years. My fluff has now gravitated to craptastic reality shows. I hit a real low a few years ago when I actually watched The Swan. I've moved up quite a bit lately by replacing that with Project Runway and Top Chef.
(And yes, Drew and Hugh both have great luck at picking adorable scripts...)

I too adore Drew and like Hugh, and could never understand how they've both somehow chosen to do some truly dreadful stuff. But I saw "Words and Music" on the flights to and from Chicago and was really enjoying it both times ~ and still managed to fall asleep before the end. Both times! I'll catch it one of these days. But they were adorable, and the story just too cute.

Ya know I like both of those actors and I adore Romantic Comedies...but I wasn't thrilled with this particular one. I liked parts of it but I thought entire sections of it were very bumpy and not particularly well written. Oh well...so it goes.

For something more bittersweet, watch Shopgirl. For something that will make you cry, watch Breaking Up.
